What a common Indian thinks about Donald Trump

Let me begin by saying that I have never taken a big interest in politics till I came across the hugely discussed US elections this year. Thanks to Mr Donald trump and his antics ranging from building a wall across Mexico to his remarks about blood coming out of her wherever, I got intrigued by the amount of hate and stupidity in the US elections.

Firstly, I have a lot of respect for the United States for being a strong supporter of democracy since inception. I found the two party system hugely different from what we have in India. The basic assumption being that it would result in saner candidates and lesser corruption. The day I realized that an obstinate reality TV show host is leading the race for the Republican nomination, I found a similarity between the two nations.

People love the candidates who tell you exactly what you want to listen, irrespective of how illogical their statements are - Given Donald trumps lack of clarity on every conceivable issue, right from foreign policy to abortion laws one would assume he would be rejected right away. Its actually funny, sitting right here from India to see someone so incompetent even being considered for the nomination let alone leading it right now. This is very similar to an Indian election, where one could get away with statements like I will negotiate better as an answer to every question

There is no accountability of the actions of the candidates - How can you get away by quoting different estimates for the wall every time you get a chance to speak. I wish there was a dashboard with the number of lies told by a candidate, trump would keep it ticking every millisecond.
I really hope sanity prevails and America chooses anyone but Trump - Go Sanders, Go Clinton, Go Cruz.
